Autumn Workshop Programme 2010
When the vivid colours of summer blend into the richer, more muted hues of autumn, It's the perfect time to bring the beauty of the season indoors, and the perfect excuse to learn some new flower arranging skills.
Mark Entwistle, our master florist, is always looking for fresh inspiration, and on the new courses we've devised for Autumn/Winter 2010, he'll share his ideas with you. To celebrate our successes at the RHS Tatton Show where we won Gold and Best in Show our courses this season demonstrate how to create displays based on our award-winning designs.
The workshops take place at our purpose-built flower studio in Knutsford, which provides the ideal surroundings to absorb everything you're shown and to have a bit of fun too. Mark's laid-back and sympathetic teaching style means the experience is enjoyable and stress-free, whether you're learning the basics or honing your skills. And as well as teaching you the technical know-how, Mark will encourage you to develop your own creativity and imagination.
We offer group design courses and one to one sessions that are customised to suit you. Whichever you choose, you're sure to have a memorable and satisfying day, taking home new skills you'll enjoy for years to come. RHS TATTON FLOWER SHOW is taking place from 21st July to 25th July 2010
Once again The Black Rose is exhibiting in the Floral Design Studio and we'd love to see you there.
Black Rose Beginners (£95 including vat)
The simple pleasure of being able to buy or pick any old bunch of flowers and deftly arrange them into a beautiful display cannot be underestimated. On this beginners' class, the frustration of not knowing where to start will become a distant memory. Mark will share the techniques and simple principles behind basic, but nevertheless impressive, flower arranging, so that you'll leave confident and enthusiastic about developing your skills at home.
Dates: Thursday 16th September. Monday 11th October
Cutting Edge (£110 including vat)
Pushing the boundaries of floral design is what Mark Entwistle does best. He'll show you how to combine flowers, foliage and containers to create the very latest in arrangement chic. Floral trends can vary from minimal to dramatic to soft and flowing, using all kinds of accessories to create a style. Mark will share cutting edge design secrets with you and teach you the techniques you need to start setting new trends of your own.

Simply White (£115 including vat)
The most simple can also be the most striking. Using a pure white colour scheme, Mark will show you how to use shape, line, texture, form and balance to create elegant and effortlessly stylish arrangements. From the minimal to the elaborate, you'll see that white has an appeal and a beauty all of its own.

Modern Sensations (£110 including vat)
Some contemporary styles have lasting appeal and become modern classics. Mark will share with you his views on what makes a memorable design that stands the test of time, explaining techniques and concepts such as balance, asymmetry and contrast. He'll demonstrate how to recreate impactful modern favourites and encourage you to use your creativity to add your own twist.

Creative Innovation (£115 including vat)
Have you got what it takes to create an innovative new design? Mark will unlock the floral designer within and help you learn to express your ideas using different flowers and materials. He'll show you how to combine different elements to great effect, and encourage you to experiment, harness your creativity and produce unique arrangements of your very own.

It's Christmas! (£155 including VAT)
With the excitement of the season building, decorating the house for Christmas can be such a pleasure, especially when you've learned how to create your own fabulously festive displays and table centres at the Black Rose. We'll teach you how to be innovative with the classic reds, greens and golds so evocative of Christmas, as well as firing your imagination to design creative, contemporary displays using white and silver schemes. Each has that special Black Rose twist, and we'll also show how to incorporate seasonal decorations into your display for that extra flourish.

Everything you need to know about your workshop
All Day workshops begin at 10am and finish at 4pm, with an hour&rsquot;s break for lunch. The Black Rose flower studio is in the centre of Knutsford, with many cafés and restaurants on the door step, so you can stretch your legs, have a wander round the picturesque town centre and grab some lunch during the lunch break. Half Day workshops begin at 10am and finish at 1pm.
We provide:
All the equipment and materials you need including containers, flowers and foliage.
Morning and afternoon refreshments.
You take away:
2 of your own designs in containers (1 design if you're attending the short Saturday workshop).
New skills and techniques that you'll be able to enjoy for years to come.

We suggest you bring a large bag or box to transport your arrangements, paper and pen to make notes - and perhaps a camera to record your achievements!
